The operator of an aircraft involved in an accident or incident as defined in 49 C.F.R. § part 830 shall immediately notify the chief aeronautics inspector. This notification shall be in addition to any duty to notify and provide a report to the National Transportation Safety Board under 49 CFR 830. Furthermore, the operator shall file with the chief aeronautics inspector a copy of any report filed with the National Transportation Safety Board, which shall be a public record.
