(a)  The Rhode Island state pilotage commission created under the provisions of chapter 9 of this title, entitled “Pilots”, shall have control and jurisdiction over pilotage of vessels entering or departing from any port or landing place of the state or transversing the waters of Block Island Sound.

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

(b)  Members of the commission shall not be compensated for their services on the board, but shall be entitled to the reimbursement of their travel expenses.
