Terms Used In South Carolina Code 44-6-10

  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • Department: means the State Department of Health and Human Services. See South Carolina Code 44-6-5
There is created the State Department of Health and Human Services which shall be headed by a Director appointed by the Governor, upon the advice and consent of the Senate. The director is subject to removal by the Governor pursuant to the provisions of § 1-3-240.
