For the purposes of this chapter, the term, next of kin, means, in order of priority stated, the person‘s:
(1) Spouse, if not legally separated;

- Person: includes natural persons, partnerships, associations, cooperative corporations, limited liability companies, and corporations. See South Dakota Codified Laws 2-14-2
(2) Adult son or daughter;
(3) Parent; and
(4) Adult brother or sister.
