Terms Used In Tennessee Code 23-2-102

  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
  • Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in a perceivable form. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105

Attorneys and solicitors of record who begin a suit shall have a lien upon the plaintiff‘s or complainant’s right of action from the date of the filing of the suit.
