(a) The Tennessee ethics commission, on its own motion or at the request of the alleged violator, may issue subpoenas in accordance with the Tennessee Rules of Civil Procedure, except that service may be by certified mail, in addition to the means of service provided by the Tennessee Rules of Civil Procedure. Witnesses under subpoena shall be entitled to the same fees as are now or may hereafter be provided by law or by action of the commission. The party requesting the subpoenas shall bear the cost of paying the fees to the witnesses subpoenaed.

Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in a perceivable form. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals).
Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
(b)(1) A person who is aggrieved by a final disposition of the commission shall be entitled to judicial review.(2) Proceedings for review shall be instituted by filing a petition for review in the chancery court of Davidson County, unless another court is specified by statute. The petition shall be filed within sixty (60) days after the entry of the commission’s final disposition on the complaint. Copies of the petition shall be served upon the commission, the complainant and all parties of record, including the attorney general and reporter, in accordance with the provisions of the Tennessee Rules of Civil Procedure pertaining to service of process.(3) The provision of § 4-5-322 relating to judicial review of agency decisions shall apply to a petition of review filed pursuant to this section.
