Terms Used In Tennessee Code 43-34-107

  • Agricultural district: means those properties residing within a contiguous boundary and meeting appropriate criteria for designation as such by the local soil and water conservation district. See Tennessee Code 43-34-103
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Soil and water conservation district: means that governmental body established by chapter 14, part 2, of this title. See Tennessee Code 43-34-103

An individual agricultural district may be comprised of ownerships residing in more than one (1) soil and water conservation district as long as the conditions of a contiguous boundary are satisfied. In such a case, each soil and water conservation district shall have the responsibility to meet the requirements of this chapter within the county of its jurisdiction.
