(a) All licenses issued to funeral directors or embalmers as provided in this chapter shall be issued for a period of two (2) years and shall be renewed biennially, at a fee in an amount to be established by the board, subject to this chapter.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 62-5-315

  • Board: means the board of funeral directors and embalmers. See Tennessee Code 62-5-101
  • Funeral establishment: means any business, whether a proprietorship, partnership, firm, association or corporation, engaged in arranging, directing or supervising funerals for profit or other benefit, the preparing of dead human bodies for burial, the disposition of dead human bodies, the provision or maintenance of place for the preparation for disposition, or for the care or disposition of human bodies. (b) All licenses issued to funeral establishments, as provided in this chapter, shall be issued for a period of two (2) years and shall be renewed biennially at a fee in an amount to be established by the board, subject to this chapter.
(c) No license issued to a funeral director, embalmer or funeral establishment granted under this chapter shall be transferable or assignable.
(d) A duplicate license to replace any license lost, destroyed or mutilated may be obtained from the board upon submission of a proper letter of request, accompanied by payment of a fee as set by the board.
