Terms Used In Tennessee Code 62-6-128

  • Contractor: includes , but is not limited to, a prime contractor, electrical contractor, electrical subcontractor, mechanical contractor, mechanical subcontractor, plumbing contractor and plumbing subcontractor, masonry contractor, and roofing subcontractor where the total cost of the roofing portion of the construction project is twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) or more.   • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105

Notwithstanding title 66, chapter 11 or any other law to the contrary, title 66, chapter 11, shall not be available on single family residential construction to any person, firm or corporation that performs residential construction and that is required to be licensed as a contractor pursuant to this part and fails to have a valid license when acting as a contractor.
