Terms Used In Tennessee Code 8-19-206

  • Service: means service as a general employee, a teacher, a state police officer, a wildlife officer, a firefighter, a police officer, a state judge, a county judge, an attorney general, a commissioner or a county official which is paid for by an employer, and also includes service for which a former member of the general assembly is entitled to under former §.   • Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system.

If, upon service and return of the summons and after a hearing, the circuit or chancery court finds that the county officer or constable failed or refused to enter into an official bond as required by law, the court shall enter a judgment declaring the office vacant, and the vacancy shall be filled according to law.
