Terms Used In Tennessee Code 8-35-120
- board: means the board provided for in part 3 of this chapter. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
- Person: includes a corporation, firm, company or association. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
- Retirement: means withdrawal from membership with a retirement allowance granted under chapters 34-37 of this title. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
- Student: means any person enrolled in a course of study in a school or in a post-secondary educational institution who as a condition of such enrollment is employed in a full-time position. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
Any person who is defined as a student in accordance with chapter 34, part 1 of this title and any person engaged in advanced training in medicine or dentistry as an intern or resident shall not be eligible for membership in the retirement system. In any case of doubt, the board of trustees shall determine whether an employee is a student.
