(a) There shall be appropriated to the attorney general and reporter a sum sufficient from the risk management fund established pursuant to § 9-8-109, to pay for the representation provided to state employees, court costs and any necessary incidental expenses incurred in providing the representation authorized by this chapter.

Terms Used In Tennessee Code 8-42-107

  • Attorney general: means the attorney general and reporter and any assistant thereto by whatever name known, any district attorney general and any assistant thereto by whatever name called, and any officer or full-time employee of the general assembly or any committee thereof established by statute, who is duly licensed to practice law in Tennessee, whose duty it is to provide facilities for drafting bills or to assist individual legislators in drafting bills or who renders legal advice and services to the members of the general assembly or committees thereof.   • Attorney general and reporter: means the attorney general and reporter of Tennessee. See Tennessee Code 8-42-101
  • board: means the board provided for in part 3 of this chapter. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals).
  • State: means the state of Tennessee. See Tennessee Code 8-34-101
(b) Subsequent to the close of each fiscal year, the attorney general and reporter shall provide to the state board of claims a report describing the manner in which funds received from the risk management fund were used in representing state employees pursuant to this chapter.
