Terms Used In Tennessee Code 47-17-104

  • Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals).
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
  • State-subdivision opioid abatement agreement: means an agreement entered into by the state and one (1) or more subdivisions of the state that addresses the allocation of funds dedicated to opioid abatement. See Tennessee Code 47-17-103

The funds obtained pursuant to a statewide opioid settlement agreement must be distributed pursuant to the agreement and any relevant provisions of a state-subdivision opioid abatement agreement. Copies of statewide opioid settlement agreements, including any amendments to such agreements, must be kept on the website of the attorney general and reporter.
