Terms Used In Texas Business and Commerce Code 303.102
- in writing: includes any representation of words, letters, or figures, whether by writing, printing, or other means. See Texas Government Code 312.011
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
A person may not represent to a person solicited that a contribution is to be used to benefit the survivors of a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty unless:
(1) all of the contributions collected are used to benefit those survivors; or
(2) the person solicited is informed in writing of the percentage of the contribution that will directly benefit those survivors.
