- Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Justice: when applied to a magistrate, means justice of the peace. See Texas Government Code 312.011
The county courts shall have appellate jurisdiction in criminal cases of which justice courts and other inferior courts have original jurisdiction.
