Terms Used In Texas Election Code 241.023

  • Legislative session: That part of a chamber's daily session in which it considers legislative business (bills, resolutions, and actions related thereto).
  • Special election: means an election that is not a general election or a primary election. See Texas Election Code 1.005

If another election is necessary under the judgment in an election contest, the applicable time intervals for conducting a special election for state senator or state representative apply if the judgment is rendered:
(1) during a regular legislative session; or
(2) within 60 days before the date a legislative session is convened.
