- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
In addition to requesting a temporary or permanent injunction under § 562.201, the attorney general may request a civil penalty of not more than $20,000 for each violation on a finding by the court that the defendant has engaged in or is engaging in an act or practice defined as unlawful under this chapter or § 17.46, Business & Commerce Code.
