Terms Used In Texas Insurance Code 845.202

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

It is intended that the system incorporate patient-focused considerations that include:
(1) open communication;
(2) informed consent;
(3) protection of confidentiality and privacy;
(4) full disclosure of program policies and procedures to patients and providers;
(5) coverage of emergency care;
(6) disclosure of compensation arrangements with providers; and
(7) efficient appeal of coverage decisions.
