- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The commissioner may employ a geologist and a mineralogist who shall be informed about minerals on land under the board’s jurisdiction and activities under pending applications and previous leases and sales. The geologist and mineralogist shall report to the board any information relating to these subjects.
