- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
To accomplish any purpose authorized in this chapter, the board may enter into contracts with:
(1) adjacent counties;
(2) boards in adjacent counties; and
(3) boards in cities of the same county in which the board has jurisdiction.
