Terms Used In Utah Code 78B-15-707
- Assisted reproduction: means a method of causing pregnancy other than sexual intercourse. See Utah Code 78B-15-102
- Child: means an individual of any age whose parentage may be determined under this chapter. See Utah Code 78B-15-102
- Parent: means an individual who has established a parent-child relationship under Section 78B-15-201. See Utah Code 78B-15-102
- Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in perceivable form. See Utah Code 78B-15-102
If a spouse dies before placement of eggs, sperm, or an embryo, the deceased spouse is not a parent of the resulting child unless the deceased spouse consented in a record that if assisted reproduction were to occur after death, the deceased spouse would be a parent of the child.
