Terms Used In Utah Code 78B-3-209

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Statute of limitations: A law that sets the time within which parties must take action to enforce their rights.
     Subject to the applicable statute of limitations, jurisdiction established under this part may be exercised regardless of when the claim arose.
