  • Engineer: means a professional engineer licensed under Title 26 who has experience in the design and investigation of dams. See
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States may apply to the District of Columbia and any territory and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See

§ 1087. Review of plans and specifications

For any proposal subject to authorization under section 1082 of this title, the State agency having jurisdiction shall employ an engineer to investigate the property, review the plans and specifications, and make additional investigations as the State agency having jurisdiction considers necessary to ensure that the project adequately provides for the public safety. The engineer shall report his or her findings to the State agency having jurisdiction. (Amended 1981, No. 242 (Adj. Sess.), § 9; 2017, No. 161 (Adj. Sess.), § 1.)
