Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 9 Sec. 2653

  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States may apply to the District of Columbia and any territory and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See
  • weight: as used in this chapter in connection with any commodity shall mean net weight. See
  • Weights and measures: means all weights and measures of every kind, instruments and devices for weighing and measuring, and any appliances and accessories associated with any or all such instruments and devices including electric vehicle supply equipment available to the public, as defined in subdivision 2730(a)(14) of this title, but not including meters for the measurement of electricity, gas (natural or manufactured), or water when they are operated in a public utility system. § 2653. State standards of weight and measure

Such weights and measures in conformity with the standards of the United States as have been supplied to the State by the federal government or otherwise obtained by the State for use as State standards shall, when they have been certified as being satisfactory for use as such by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, be the State standards of weight and measure. The State standards shall be kept in a safe and suitable place. They shall not be removed from the laboratory except for repairs or for calibration, or as otherwise necessary to carry out the provisions of this chapter. (Added 1967, No. 102, § 4, eff.
