This article provides the exclusive jurisdictional basis for a court of the Commonwealth to appoint a guardian or issue a conservatorship order for an adult.

Terms Used In Virginia Code 64.2-2106

  • Adult: means a person 18 years of age or more. See Virginia Code 1-203
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
