West Virginia Code 16A-14-1 – Definitions
The following words and phrases when used in this chapter shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
Terms Used In West Virginia Code 16A-14-1
- Academic clinical research center: means . See West Virginia Code 16A-14-1
- Dispensary: means a person, including a natural person, corporation, partnership, association, trust, or other entity, or any combination thereof, which holds a permit issued by the bureau to dispense medical cannabis. See West Virginia Code 16A-2-1
- Grower: means a person, including a natural person, corporation, partnership, association, trust, or other entity, or any combination thereof, which holds a permit from the bureau under this act to grow medical cannabis. See West Virginia Code 16A-2-1
- Patient: means an individual who:
(A) Has a serious medical condition. See West Virginia Code 16A-2-1
- Permit: means an authorization issued by the bureau to a medical cannabis organization to conduct activities under this act. See West Virginia Code 16A-2-1
- Processor: means a person, including a natural person, corporation, partnership, association, trust, or other entity, or any combination thereof, which holds a permit from the bureau under this act to process medical cannabis. See West Virginia Code 16A-2-1
- State: when applied to a part of the United States and not restricted by the context, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" also include the said district and territories. See West Virginia Code 2-2-10
(1) “Academic clinical research center” means an accredited medical school within this state that operates or partners with an acute care hospital licensed within this state.
(2) “Clinical registrant” means an entity that:
(A) Holds a permit as a grower, processor and a dispensary; and
(B) Has a contractual relationship with an academic clinical research center under which the academic clinical research center or its affiliate provides advice to the entity, regarding, among other areas, patient health and safety, medical applications and dispensing and management of controlled substances.
