Except as otherwise provided by law the division shall provide vocational rehabilitation services to disabled individuals determined by the director to be eligible therefor, and for this purpose the division is authorized among other things to:

  • Director: means the director of the division of vocational rehabilitation. See West Virginia Code 18-10A-1
  • Division: means the division of vocational rehabilitation established by this article. See West Virginia Code 18-10A-1
  • State: when applied to a part of the United States and not restricted by the context, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" also include the said district and territories. See West Virginia Code 2-2-10
  • vocational rehabilitation services: means any services, provided directly or through public or private instrumentalities, found by the director to be necessary to compensate a disabled individual for his or her employment handicap and to enable him or her to engage in a remunerative occupation including, but not limited to, medical and vocational diagnosis, vocational guidance, counseling and placement, rehabilitation training, attendant care services, physical restoration, transportation, occupational licenses, occupational tools and equipment, including motor vehicles, maintenance, and training books and materials. (1) Cooperate with other departments, agencies and institutions, both public and private, in providing for the vocational rehabilitation of disabled individuals, in studying the problems involved therein, and in establishing, developing and providing, in conformity with the provisions of this article, such programs, facilities and services as may be necessary or desirable.

(2) Enter into reciprocal agreements with any other state to provide for the vocational rehabilitation of residents of such state.

(3) Conduct research and compile statistics relating to the vocational rehabilitation of disabled individuals.
