Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 784.11

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Person: includes all partnerships, associations and bodies politic or corporate. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01

If the judgment be rendered upon the right of the person so alleged to be entitled in favor of such person the person may recover by action the damages the person has sustained by reason of the usurpation by the defendant of the office from which such defendant has been excluded.
