Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 840.06
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
- Person: includes all partnerships, associations and bodies politic or corporate. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
- Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit.
If the court orders that the owner of an interest is a necessary party to an action, the action may not be dismissed, but the plaintiff shall be given leave to join the missing person as plaintiff or defendant.
