Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 977.04
- Public defender: Represent defendants who can't afford an attorney in criminal matters.
- State: when applied to states of the United States, includes the District of Columbia, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the several territories organized by Congress. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
The board shall not make any decision regarding the handling of any case nor interfere with the state public defender or any member of his or her staff in carrying out professional duties.
