Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 977.09
- Person: includes all partnerships, associations and bodies politic or corporate. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
- Public defender: Represent defendants who can't afford an attorney in criminal matters.
- State: when applied to states of the United States, includes the District of Columbia, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the several territories organized by Congress. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
The files maintained by the office of the state public defender which relate to the handling of any case shall be considered confidential and shall not be open to inspection by any person unless authorized by law, court order, the board or the state public defender.
