Methamphetamine

Methamphetamine is regulated under Schedule II of the Controlled Substances Act. It is FDA approved for the treatment of ADHD and exogenous obesity and dispensed in the USA under the trademark name Desoxyn. However, it is primarily abused as a recreational drug. Much of the methamphetamine consumed in the US is manufactured domestically by amateur chemists in meth labs from common household drugs and chemicals such as lye, lithium, and ammonia. The Drug Enforcement Administration fights illegal meth production, distribution and use.
