Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2C:52-29

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 2C:52-29. Any person who files an application pursuant to this chapter shall not be charged a fee for applying for an expungement, and any fee set forth in the Rules of Court, which was, based on the Supreme Court’s temporary authority pursuant to sections 12 through 15, and 17 through 19 of P.L.2014, c.31 (C. 2B:1-7 through C. 2B:1-13), a revision or supplement by the Supreme Court to the fee charged pursuant to this section prior to its amendment by P.L.2019, c.269 (C. 2C:52-5.1 et al.), is void.
