Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 45:17-2

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Such books and the entries therein, shall, at all reasonable times, be open to the inspection of the mayor and head of the police department of the city in which the auctioneer conducts his business, the prosecutor of the pleas of any county in which said city is located or which is a part of such city, and to any person who shall be duly authorized in writing for that purpose by any or either of them and shall exhibit such written authorization to the auctioneer.
