To rehabilitate a witness is to rebut the impeachment of that witness with evidence that the witness is credible.  Witnesses are presumed to be testifying truthfully, and rehabilitation eveidence may only be admitted if a witness’ credibility has been attacked.  That evidence has been introduced which is contrary to the witness’ testimony does not mean the witness has been impeached, however.  Rehabilitation evidence can take several forms.
