  • Affected county: means each county which is proposed to be part of a consolidated county or which is consolidated with one or more counties. See California Government Code 23501
  • boxing: as used in this chapter includes "kickboxing" and "martial arts. See California Business and Professions Code 18760
  • Commercial purposes: include the determination of the weight, measure, or count of any commodity or thing that is sold on the basis of weight, measure, or count. See California Business and Professions Code 12500
  • commission: means the Student Aid Commission created by this article. See California Education Code 69515
  • County: includes city and county. See California Government Code 19
  • escrow agent: as used in this division includes joint control agents and Internet escrow agents. See California Financial Code 17005.6
  • governing boards: means the local boards of trustees and the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, the Trustees of the California State University, and the Regents of the University of California. See California Education Code 66011
  • Incorrect: means any instrument that fails to meet all of the requirements of Section 12107. See California Business and Professions Code 12500
  • Measuring instrument: means any device, contrivance, apparatus, or instrument used, or designed to be used, for ascertaining measure and includes any tool, appliance, or accessory used or connected therewith. See California Business and Professions Code 12500
  • Notice: includes all papers and orders required to be served in any proceedings before any court, board, or officer, or when required by law to be served independently of such proceeding. See California Government Code 26660
  • Oath: includes an affirmation or declaration. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Person: includes a corporation as well as a natural person. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Person: includes any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, limited liability company, syndicate, estate, trust, business trust, or organization of any kind. See California Financial Code 18
  • Person: includes any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, limited liability company, business trust, corporation, or company. See California Government Code 17
  • Principal county: means the county with the greatest proportion of assessed value, as shown on the last equalized assessment roll, to the total amount of taxable property in the county. See California Government Code 23501
  • Process: signifies a writ or summons issued in the course of a judicial proceeding. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Project: as used in this chapter , means the California Science Project. See California Education Code 52955
  • Property: includes both personal and real property. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Region: includes that part of Lake Tahoe within the jurisdiction of the State of California, the adjacent parts of the Counties of El Dorado and Placer lying within the Tahoe Basin in the State of California, and that additional and adjacent part of the County of Placer outside of the Tahoe Basin in the State of California which lies southward and eastward of a line starting at the intersection of the basin crestline and the north boundary of Section 1, thence west to the northwest corner of Section 3, thence south to the intersection of the basin crestline and the west boundary of Section 10. See California Government Code 66905.5
  • related services: means transportation, and such developmental, corrective, and other supportive services (including speech-language pathology and audiology services, interpreting services, psychological services, physical and occupational therapy, recreation, including therapeutic recreation, social work services, school nurse services designed to enable an individual with exceptional needs to receive a free appropriate public education as described in the individualized education program of the child, counseling services, including rehabilitation counseling, orientation, and mobility services, and medical services, except that such medical services shall be for diagnostic and evaluation purposes only) as may be required to assist an individual with exceptional needs to benefit from special education, and includes the early identification and assessment of disabling conditions in children.   • secretary: refer to the Transportation Agency and the Secretary of Transportation, respectively, unless the context otherwise requires. See California Government Code 13976
  • Sheriff: includes marshal. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • social media: means an electronic service or account, or electronic content, including, but not limited to, videos or still photographs, blogs, video blogs, podcasts, instant and text messages, email, online services or accounts, or Internet Web site profiles or locations. See California Education Code 99120
  • State: includes the District of Columbia and the territories when applied to the different parts of the United States, and the words "United States" may include the district and territories. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Government Code 18
  • state agency: includes every state office, officer, department, division, bureau, board, and commission. See California Government Code 11000
  • Subdivision: means a subdivision of the section in which the term occurs unless some other section is expressly mentioned. See California Government Code 10
  • Testify: includes any mode of oral statement made under oath or affirmation. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Will: includes codicil. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Writ: means an order or precept in writing, issued in the name of the people, or of a court or judicial officer. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
  • Writing: includes printing and typewriting. See California Code of Civil Procedure 17
