Terms Used In Alabama Code 6-9-237
- circuit: means judicial circuit. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
- foreign judgment: shall mean any judgment, decree, or order of a court of the United States or of any other court which is entitled to full faith and credit in this state. See Alabama Code 6-9-231
- Probate: Proving a will
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
A copy of a foreign judgment authenticated in the manner described in Section circuit court; effect of judgment” class=”unlinked-ref” datatype=”S” sessionyear=”2020″ statecd=”AL” title=”6″>6-9-232 and filed in the circuit court may be recorded in the probate office as provided for judgments of the circuit courts of this state, and its being so filed shall have the same force and effect as the filing of a certificate of a judgment obtained in a circuit court of this state.
