• Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
• County: includes city and county. See California Health and Safety Code 14
• decontamination: as used in this chapter , means the reduction of the level of contamination from radioactive material to the level that the department determines is reasonably necessary to eliminate the hazard to public health that is caused by the contamination of any object, building, structure, or premises. See California Health and Safety Code 115180
• Department: means the State Department of Health Services. See California Health and Safety Code 114985
• Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
• Ionizing radiation: means gamma rays and X-rays. See California Health and Safety Code 114985
• Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
• Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
• Person: means any individual, corporation, partnership, limited liability company, firm, association, trust, estate, public or private institution, group, agency, political subdivision of this state, any other state or political subdivision or agency thereof, and any legal successor, representative, agent, or agency of the foregoing, other than the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the United States Department of Energy, or any successor thereto, and other than federal government agencies licensed by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission, under prime contract to the United States Department of Energy, or any successor thereto. • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
• State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Health and Safety Code 23
