  • Arraignment: A proceeding in which an individual who is accused of committing a crime is brought into court, told of the charges, and asked to plead guilty or not guilty.
  • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
  • Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
  • board: means the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 20
  • Business affairs: as used in this article means the details relative to the business activities of the entity as disclosed by the return but shall exclude extraneous matters, such as the exact corporate title, corporate number, the date of commencement of business in this state, taxable year adopted, filing date of return, name, date and title of individuals signing affidavit to the return, due date of taxes, taxes unpaid, entity's address, private address of officers and directors.   • City: includes city and county and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Public Utilities Code 19
  • Commission: means the Public Utilities Commission created by §. See California Public Utilities Code 20
  • Committee: means the Mortgage Bond and Tax Credit Allocation Committee, which is renamed the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee. See California Health and Safety Code 50199.7
  • County: includes city and county. See California Health and Safety Code 14
  • County: includes city and county. See California Public Utilities Code 18
  • County: includes city and county. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 15
  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • farmworker housing: means housing for agricultural workers that is available to, and occupied by, only farmworkers and their households. See California Health and Safety Code 50199.7
  • Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor
  • Home protection company: means any person licensed pursuant to this part which issues home protection contracts. See California Insurance Code 12740
  • Home protection contract: means a contract or agreement whereby a person, other than a builder, seller, or lessor of the home which is the subject of the contract, undertakes for a specified period of time, for a predetermined fee, to repair or replace all or any part of any component, system or appliance of a home necessitated by wear and tear, deterioration or inherent defect, arising during the effective period of the contract, and, in the event of an inspection conducted pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 12761, by the failure of that inspection to detect the likelihood of any such loss.   • Housing credit: means the tax credit for low-income rental housing provided under Section 42 of the federal Internal Revenue Code (26 U. See California Health and Safety Code 50199.7
  • Housing credit applicant: means any owner, sponsor, or developer of a qualifying low-income building or project who applies to the committee for either of the following:

  • month: means a calendar month, unless otherwise expressed. See California Civil Code 14
  • Person: means any person, association, organization, partnership, business trust, limited liability company, or corporation. See California Insurance Code 19
  • Person: includes any person, firm, partnership, general partner of a partnership, limited liability company, registered limited liability partnership, foreign limited liability partnership, association, corporation, company, syndicate, estate, trust, business trust, or organization of any kind.
