  • Attorney-in-fact: A person who, acting as an agent, is given written authorization by another person to transact business for him (her) out of court.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     It shall be unlawful for any person to act as an underwriter of or attorney-in-fact for a Lloyds except in accordance with the provisions of this Article, and any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a business offense and shall be required to pay a penalty of not more than one thousand dollars, for each offense, to be recovered in the name of the People of the State of Illinois by the State’s Attorney of the county in which the violation occurs, and the penalty so recovered shall be paid into the county treasury.
