  • Foreign judgment: means any judgment or order relating to fraudulent claims practices, false and deceptive advertising, unfair methods of transacting business, or payment of taxes, of a court located in a "reciprocal state" including a court of the United States located therein, against any insurer incorporated or authorized to do business in this State.   • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Filing and status of foreign judgments.) A copy of any foreign judgment authenticated in accordance with the statutes of this State may be filed in the office of the clerk of any circuit court of this State. The clerk, upon verifying with the Director that the judgment or order qualifies as a “foreign judgment”, shall treat the foreign judgment in the same manner as a judgment of any circuit court of this State. A foreign judgment so filed has the same effect, is subject to the same procedures, defenses and proceedings for reopening, vacating, or staying and may be enforced or satisfied in like manner as a judgment of any circuit court of this State.
