Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 215 ILCS 5/121-2

  • insurer: as used in this Article includes all corporations, associations, partnerships and individuals, engaged as principals in the business of insurance and also includes interinsurance exchanges and mutual benefit societies. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 215 ILCS 5/121-3
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Transacting business without certificate of authority prohibited – Exempt transactions. It is unlawful for any insurer to transact insurance business in this State, (as described in Section 121-3,) without a certificate of authority from the Director. This Section does not however, apply to any transaction described in Sections 121-2.01 through 121-2.10.
