Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 215 ILCS 5/150.1

  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
     No company doing business in this State shall enter into a group contract for an annuity or pension plan to cover employees of the State, its agencies, instrumentalities, political subdivisions or municipal corporations prior to the time such employees are granted membership in any established retirement system or pension fund, by whatever name called, created by and operating pursuant to any of the provisions of the “Illinois Pension Code” if such employees are eligible for coverage under such statute; provided that this provision shall not apply to any contract entered into by a company for such annuity or pension plan for any such group of employees prior to the effective date of this amendatory Act.
