Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 215 ILCS 5/1745

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
     Insurers engaging in an insurance business transfer under this Article consent to the jurisdiction of the Director with regard to any aspect of the transferred business or business transfer plan, including the authority of the Director to conduct financial analysis and examinations, regardless of whether the insurer has a certificate of authority or another basis for the Director’s jurisdiction exists.
