Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 715/6

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
     The provisions of this statute, as provided in Section 4, shall in no way supersede the responsibility of the assigned fire protection jurisdiction to respond to calls for fire protection coverage within their own jurisdiction, or under prior contractual agreements, on a priority basis. The assignment authority of the Fire Marshal, as provided herein, shall require a fire protection jurisdiction to provide fire protection coverage, to the best of their ability, subject to above priority considerations.
