  • insurance company: shall mean and include all corporations, companies, associations, societies, fraternal benefit societies, reciprocal exchanges, persons or partnerships writing contracts of insurance, indemnity or suretyship in this state upon any type of risk or loss except insurance companies transacting business pursuant to the provisions of Kan.   • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

No insurance agent shall be required to take an examination for an agent’s license for any class or subclassification of business which he was engaged in writing prior to April 25, 1971, on behalf of any insurance company or association which the insurance code of this state was made applicable by Kan. Stat. Ann. § 40-202: Provided, That said insurance agent shall be subject to all the requirements of Kan. Stat. Ann. § 40-241 before being licensed to sell insurance on behalf of any other company or association.
