- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.

- Person: means an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint venture, public corporation, government or governmental subdivision, agency, or instrumentality, or any other legal or commercial entity. A. Except as otherwise provided in Subsection B of this Section, a person that for valuable consideration, knowingly purchases or sells a part for transplantation or therapy, if removal of the part is intended to occur after the death of the person, shall upon conviction be subject to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand dollars or imprisonment not exceeding five years with or without hard labor, or both.
B. A person may charge a reasonable amount for the removal, processing, preservation, quality control, storage, transportation, implantation, or disposal of a part.
