Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:936

NOTE: §936 eff. until one or more of the 20 depts. of the executive branch is abolished or a const. amend. authorizing the creation of an additional dept. becomes effective, whichever is earlier. See Acts 2013, No. 384, §§5 and 9.

            A. It is the intention of the legislature that, insofar as is practical and consistent with the efficient administration of state government, programs and services for the elderly population of Louisiana, with the exception of any program administered by the Department of Children and Family Services or the Louisiana Department of Health on August 15, 1995, shall eventually be consolidated within the office of elderly affairs, to be administered at the local level by the sixty-four parish voluntary councils on aging.

            B. It is further the intention of the legislature that the Office of Elderly Affairs administer all federal funds appropriated, allocated, or otherwise made available to the state for services to the elderly, whether by block grant or in any other form, with the exception of funds for programs administered by the Department of Children and Family Services or the Louisiana Department of Health on August 15, 1995. The office of elderly affairs shall distribute such funds in accordance with appropriate state and federal requirements and consistent with this Section.
