- Mileage: means cost of transportation via the shortest traveled route either by train, bus or private automobile from the residence of the legislator to Lansing. See Michigan Laws 4.511
- month: means a calendar month; the word "year" a calendar year; and the word "year" alone shall be equivalent to the words "year of our Lord". See Michigan Laws 8.3j
The members of the legislature shall receive mileage at the rate prescribed in the joint rules of the senate and house of representatives for 2 round trips each month during each regular and extra session of the legislature.
