Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 17:33B-26

  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Nothing contained in paragraph e. of the definition of an eligible person as set forth in section 25 of this 1990 amendatory and supplementary act shall be deemed to permit an insurer subject to the provisions of that paragraph e. to refuse coverage to a person pursuant to the provisions of section 27 or section 39 of this act unless that insurer has complied with its depopulation obligation, as determined by the commissioner pursuant to the provisions of section 26 of P.L.1983, c.65 (C. 17:30E-14) and paragraph (5) of subsection c. of section 88 of this act, by October 1, 1992.
